Ten thousand years ago, Witch cleansed the Realms of the Taint.
Ten thousand years ago, Witch returned to the Darkness.
Saetan SaDiabolo threw in his strength with the Demon-Dead, and faded. The Dark Triangle was broken. Witch could not be saved. The Lover followed Witch and the Father, until only the Brother remained.
The Dark Court disappeared from public view, going into seclusion, and the Keep closed its doors to all. No one knew what happened to the Dark bloodline, nor did anyone care.
People were too busy rebuilding their lives.
Some from Kaeleer moved to Terreille, intermarried, until Dark Jewels once again reappeared in the realm of Light. Lands were healed, Protocol redefined, and no longer do people live in fear. Over the decades, centuries, millieniums, the Dark Realm filled up too.
The Kindred races closed off their Territories, angered at the humans for screwing up their plans to save Witch. There were rumours, saying that the Kindred Blood would rise and purge Kaeleer of the two-legged human Blood. Nothing happened yet.
Ten thousand years have passed.
The Taint might have been purged, but motivators like greed and ambition remained. There in Hayll, in the ruins of the old, arose a new Taint. A mere Opal Jeweled Queen took Hayll as her own. She sowed seeds of chaos and mistrust, of stone-cold anger and fiery-hot hate. Newly-appeared Dark jewels were enticed to her side or enslaved. Queens were being carefully cultivated to bend to her will, and those who wouldn't were used as broodmares, their lives no better than death.
She never saw her ambitions to completion, but her heir did. A Red Jeweled Black Widow Queen, Tiara Raeanne was a wicked, wicked Queen. Terrielle had few Dark Jewels who were free, few Territories out of the shadow of Hayll, an few places where fear was not widespread.
Kaeleer had closed its doors once again. The only way through the Realms was through illegally bribing the High Priestesses - with death, or with gold.
Conflict, fear, isolation. Only twenty thousand years since the Purge... and it seemed that the Realms are once again in a Dark Age.
